Emerging Legal and Economic Structures (ELES) focuses on China’s modern political history, contemporary economic and policy issues, and the growing role China plays in the global economy.
Public Health in China introduces students to major domestic public health issues and to Traditional Chinese Medine (TCM). The courses are taught by faculty at Capital Medical University and include site visits to local hospitals and clinics.
Science & Engineering Research provides qualified students an opportunity to conduct research at accredited Tsinghua University laboratories, in combination with Mandarin language training or one of the programs above.
The ‘NU in China’ program is directed by Northwestern’s own Professor Licheng Gu. Professor Gu, a native Beijinger, “Gu Laoshi” (Professor Gu, in Chinese) also directs the Northwestern University African and Asian Languages Department and has taught several levels of Chinese language instruction.
